A Label Doing Four Jobs at Once

UNDERRADAR started in 2021 as, in its own words, something "built not just as a label but as a clothing line and booking agency in one." Ecilo and Trisatria run it out of Jakarta. The label's first big swing was Asia Futurist, a November 2021 compilation with Shanghai's Bassis crew. The lineup pulled in producers from Hong Kong and India, with UNDERRADAR confirming 80% of the proceeds would go to individuals in Indonesia. Its boldest claim came later with Revolt, made alongside Koronna Collective and Bordel Ensemble Records and billed flatly as Indonesia's first dedicated techno compilation.

Ecilo's own profile has done a lot of the label's early heavy lifting. He signed to Jeff Mills' Axis Records for the unCovert album. This site covered that deal. That credibility has given UNDERRADAR room to put out records by people nobody outside Jakarta has heard of yet. Aldooink is the latest test of whether that room gets used well.

An Artist Who Builds the Whole Signal, Not Just the Sound

Void Protocol reads like someone pointing a visual artist's instinct at his own tracks for once, rather than at the screen behind someone else's set. The four tracks read like someone who thinks in systems, not hooks. It's held together by hardware-grey, static-edged production rather than any single vocal or melodic anchor.

The Point of Staying Small

Void Protocol joins a catalogue UNDERRADAR has built one artist at a time.
