Audio Obscura Just Made Rotterdam the Place to Be This August
Audio Obscura Festival returns to the UNESCO World Heritage Van Nelle Fabriek in Rotterdam on August 29. Honey Dijon, Chris Stussy, Folamour, DJ Gigola b2b Chloé Caillet, and more. One day only. Then it disappears.
Audio Obscura Festival returns to Rotterdam on Saturday August 29 2026 for a one day event at the Van Nelle Factory, presented as a temporary cultural installation where the festival merges electronic music, architecture, and public space at a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One day. One venue. Then it's gone. That's the whole philosophy and it's exactly what makes this one of the most special events on the European electronic music calendar this summer.
Following a sold out debut in 2024, Audio Obscura Festival resumes its mission to present electronic music in unconventional spaces. During the successful first edition the dancefloor came alive with sets from Chris Stussy and The Martinez Brothers. In 2026 it comes back bigger and more considered than before. The lineup is the strongest they have ever assembled. The venue is the same. The feeling will be completely different.
The Factory That Became a Festival
The Van Nelle Fabriek, a UNESCO World Heritage site, offers a unique backdrop for this festival. The factory's iconic diagonal transport bridges and its blend of industrial design and modern creativity are expected to provide a distinct atmosphere for the event. This is not a converted warehouse or a pop up tent on a field. This is a building that was designed in 1925 to be one of the most beautiful factories ever constructed. It was built to make tea, coffee, and tobacco. In 2026 its being used to make something much better.

This edition expands across the full grounds of the Van Nelle Factory, with brutalist walkways, open air zones, and hidden industrial areas forming an immersive route where sound and architecture intersect. You do not stand in front of a stage at Audio Obscura Festival. You move through the building. The music finds you around corners. Rooms open into other rooms. The diagonal transport bridges overhead become part of the production. Audio Obscura frames it as one day event that takes over multiple parts of the location rather than a single stage setup.
Organizers said: for the past 10 years, we have conducted an extensive search for a festival site that aligns with ouw vision. The Van Nelle Factory stands out as an epitome of Dutch architecture, celebrating the cultural heritage of Rotterdam alongside the city's industrial design and creativity. We are incredibly proud to host our inaugural Audio Obscura Festival in Rotterdam at the Van Nelle Factory.
Described by organizers as a temporary cultural intervention, the festival reimagines the music experience as a fleeting installation, built, experienced, and then dismantled in a single day. A portion of the proceeds will support the preservation of the Van Nelle Factory as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Three euros from every ticket goes directly to the venue's preservation fund. The festival is not just using the building. It's actively contributing to keep it alive.
The Lineup
The first names for Audio Obscura Festival 2026 underling the broad musical signature of the collective with a mix of international headliners and locally rooted talent: Chris Stussy, Propsa, DJ Gigola b2b Chloe Caillet, DJ Heartstring, Eileen, Folamour, Honey Dijon, Joella Jackson b2b Rayzir, Max Dean, Marsolo, Obskur b2b Luuk van Dijk, Olive F, and AAT.
Honey Dijon on this lineup is the moment that stops you mid-scroll. Fresh off The Nightlife, her third album that landed in April 2026 and immediately became one of the most talked about house records of the year, she brings everything she has been building to a UNESCO World Heritage site in Rotterdam.
Chris Stussy returning is significant. For Chris Stussy this marks his second appearance at Audio Obscura Festival after his highly praised set during the first edition. In 2026 Audio Obscura Festival represents his only Rotterdam stage appearance. The Dutch producer who has built his reputation on PIV and Eastenderz playing his home country's most architecturally extraordinary venue is the kind of full circle moment that makes a lineup feel considered rather than assembled.

Folamour brings his warm and emotionally rich French house approach. DJ Gigola b2b Chloé Caillet is the back to back that bridges genre-fluid Berlin energy with deep danceable grooves. DJ Heartstring, the Berlin duo building momentum across every European festival this summer, lands in a space that was made for exactly the kind of atmospheric techno trance sound they carry. Prospa, Max Dean, and Obskür b2b Luuk van Dijk give the lineup its Dutch and UK underground depth. More names are still to be announced.

What Audio Obscura is all about
Audio Obscura is an Amsterdam based electronic music promoter that puts cutting edge dance music into unusual, breathtaking, off limits spaces around the world. Past events have included shows at the Rijksmuseum, Concertgebouw, and Amsterdam Centraal Station, as well as a highway rave during the city's 750th anniversary celebrations. A rave on a highway during Amsterdam's 750 anniversary. The Concertgebouw. The Rijksmuseum. This is a collective that treats the venue as part of the art, not just the container for it. Van Nelle Fabriek is the most ambitious space they taken on yet.
