KSHMR Headlined Borderland 2026 at Sarawak's Cultural Village, and March 2027 Tickets Are Already on Sale

KSHMR headlined Borderland Music Festival's 2026 edition at Sarawak's Cultural Village.

In 2023, Borderland threw its first edition. It drew 3,000 people. By 2026, KSHMR was headlining a two-day lineup at the Sarawak Cultural Village. The organizers are already running blind sales for the follow-up date, with the venue still TBA.

This growth curve belongs to Borderland Music Festival, and it's worth paying attention to because almost nothing about Malaysian electronic music coverage ever looks east. Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Johor get written up. Sarawak and Sabah, the two states that make up Malaysian Borneo, mostly don't, outside of the long-running Rainforest World Music Festival. Borderland is the first dance-music operation to build real scale there, and the state government is backing it to do it again.

A State-Backed Festival Finds Its Stage

The festival returned to the Sarawak Cultural Village in September 2025. Organizers had billed it as the third edition. The lineup included Darren Styles among 60 acts. Sarawak's Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts backs the festival. Call it a state-sponsored tourism play more than a DIY rave that got lucky.

This year's edition ran September 11 and 12, 2026, back at the Cultural Village, with more than 40 acts across two days. KSHMR led a bill that also starred Ben Nicky and Blasterjaxx. Underneath them sat a genuinely deep regional bill: Arcando, DNA, Juelz, RAMENGVRL with Indahkus, Dia and Kenz.

It's a strange, specific combination: big-room EDM headliners booked by a rainforest heritage museum, with Mount Santubong as the backdrop instead of a generic festival field. Whether that reads as inspired programming or tourism-board opportunism probably depends on how cynical you are about state-sponsored nightlife. Either way, it worked well enough that a follow-up event is already on sale.

A Mystery Headliner for March

Dates: March 20, 2027 Venue: Kuching, Sarawak (TBA) Tickets: Via Ticketmelon, blind sale now live

The organizers have already given the follow-up event a name: TOK. Venue is still TBA. Tickets for the follow-up are sold on Ticketmelon, starting with a blind sale. Buying in now means trusting the organizers before you know who's playing. Sarawak's festival calendar has earned enough credibility in three years that Loopliner would lean toward the former.

If You Go

The city itself is small enough to walk. The Sarawak Cultural Village sits at the foot of Mount Santubong, outside the city. March in Sarawak runs hot and humid, with afternoon rain a given, so plan footwear accordingly. No lineup, no venue, no refund policy posted yet, so anyone buying the blind sale is buying on the festival's three-year track record alone.
