Dennis Cruz: The Spanish Soul of Underground House Music
Dennis Cruz has built one of the most consistent careers in underground house music, from multiple Beatport numbers ones to headlining RESISTANCE at Ultra Miami 2026 alongside Seth Troxler. The Madrid born DJ and producer brings funk, Latin rhythms and deep grooves to every record and every room he plays. With his latest release "The Trip" dropping in April 2026. It is clear he is nowhere near done.
Landing multiple number one releases on Beatport and being ranked the platform's third best tech house artist of all time is no small feat, and for Dennis Cruz, it is just one chapter in a career that has made him one of the most respected names in underground house music. Born Denis de Galdo Troyano on March 28, 1983, in Madrid, Spain, Cruz grew up immersed in the rhythms and energy of the city's underground club scene. By the time he was 17, he had already started DJing, driven by a genuine love for music rather than any career ambition. Alongside those early nights behind the decks, he was also putting in hours studying sound engineering, building the technical knowledge that would later define his approach to production.
Before house music became his world, Cruz spent time in professional recording studios working with hip hop acts and rock bands. Those sessions taught him how to listen, how to construct a track from the ground up, and how to read what a record truly needs. When he eventually turned his full attention to dance music, that experience gave him an edge that set his work apart from the rest of the field.
Rooted in Groove
Cruz launched his recording career in 2013 with a series of singles that quickly announced his sound to the global underground. That same year he founded Lemon-Aid Music, his first label, with the debut release "Keep On Trying" serving as an early statement of intent. The track was raw, groove driven, and built entirely for the dancefloor. It was the beginning of a production identity that would grow more refined but never stray far from those foundational values.
His house music draws from a wide pool of cultural influences. Funk, salsa, flamenco, dub an Latin rhythms all find their way into his productions, giving his sound a richness and personality that goes well beyond standard tech house. That signature percussive quality, paired with deeply infectious grooves, has kept him near the top of the Beatport charts for years and earned him consistent recognition from tastemakers and press alike, including BBC Radio1, Mixmag and DJ Mag.

A Record for Every Room
Over the course of his career, Cruz has placed music on some of the most respected labels in underground house music, inclduing Solid Grooves, Crosstown Rebels, Moon Harbour, Hot Creations, Snatch!, Deeperfect and Suara. The critical recognition has been consistent. Cruz was named Best Producer at DJ Awards in 2017, Best Tech House at the same awards in 2018 and Best Deep Tech in 2019. Resident Advisor ranked him as the second most charted artist of 2016, and DJ Mag has featured him among is leading tech house names on multiple occasions. Spain's Vicious Music Awards also recognised him as Best Artist, a title that carries real weight in his home country.
Beyond solo work, he co-founded MÜSE alongside fellow artist Eddy M, and later launched BotaniQ, adding yet another platform through which he shapes the direction of underground house music as both a creator and a curator.
From Ibiza Terraces to Festival Main Stages
Few artists in house music cover as much ground as Cruz. His touring takes him through South America, the United States, Europe, Asia and annual visits to Australia and New Zealand. He has held residences at some of the most iconic spaces in dance music, including Fabric in London, DC10 and Hi Ibiza, and Club Space in Miami. Festival books at Coachella, Tomorowland, BPM Festival, Amsterdam Dance Event, Kappa Futur, and the Winter Music Conference have become a regular part of his calendar.
In the early 2020s, Cruz also joined forces with British producer PAWSA to form GOLFOS, a collaborative project built around back to back sets that fuse stripped back house with jazzy samples and funk influences. The project takes its name from Spanish slang for troublemakers or party animals, which captures something of its spirit perfectly. GOLFOS has performed at Kappa Futur Festival in Turin, Circoloco NYC and GreenWorld Festival in Tenerife.
2026 and Still Leading the Way
The year 2026 has continued to affirm Cruz's standing at the top of house music. In March he appeared at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, taking the RESISTANCE stage alongside Seth Troxler for a b2b set that had been widely anticipated within the underground community. The two selectors share a deep commitment to groove driven, substance focused house music, and the pairing was regarded as one of the most compelling bookings on the entire festival bill.

On the production side, April 2026 brought the release of "The Trip" a collaborative track made with longtime studio partner Iuliano Mambo and put out through the BotaniQ label. The two have shared a creative relationship stretching back more than a decade, with previous work appearing on Crosstown Rebels, Saved and several of Cruz's own imprints. "The Trip" delivers a rolling, percussion led groove full of warm low end pressure and subtle rhythmic movement, a refined piece of club music that speaks directly to what Cruz has always done best.
More than two decades into his journey, Dennis Cruz stands as one of the most dependable and deeply rooted figures in global house music. His sound continues to evolve while staying true to the groove, and his influence on the underground scene shows no signs of slowing down.
