A Door on Jalan Mesui

Saturday night, a side door off Changkat Bukit Bintang opens onto Pisco Bar, a Peruvian-Spanish tapas room that occasionally clears its tables for club nights, and the DJ behind the decks has had a rough year by any measure. Di Linh, the Hanoi selector who built her name at Savage before Vietnam's government reclaimed the site for an opera house, plays Kuala Lumpur on October 24. Six days later, on October 31, her other home club, The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City, closes for good after almost thirteen years, squeezed out by rising rent and tighter rules on booking DJs from outside the country.

That is two venues gone in eleven months. Di Linh started as a regular at Savage in 2018, got pulled behind the booth with barely any formal training, and built her name during the pandemic border closures, when touring DJs couldn't get into Vietnam at all and local selectors filled the gap. Loopliner covered the loss of both venues in detail last week; her response since has been to keep playing smaller rooms at home, a 300-capacity warehouse called Unmute, HUM Studios, even a burger joint, and to take the gigs that come from further away. Kuala Lumpur is the latest one.

The Bill

The Pisco Bar date is billed as "Rogue Instinct x NWHR x Less Is More present Di Linh," the second edition of a series built around female-led nightlife in Malaysia. Di Linh headlines over three local selectors, Jenn Chunes, Kiko and Maïatsou, with the promoters stating plainly that the scene needs more nights shaped by women. It's not a new complaint in this region, but Di Linh's own catalogue, disco, house and techno blended on what she calls "a go-with-the-flow basis," makes the case better than a press line does.

She has described her sets as mid-tempo with bursts of energy rather than a straight run at one BPM, which should suit a ten o'clock start with five hours to find its shape before last call.

If You Go

Dates: Saturday, October 24, 2026, 10PM to 3AM Venue: Pisco Bar, 29 Jalan Mesui, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur Tickets: Via Ticketmelon

Whatever happens at the Observatory on the 31st, Di Linh will already be home, a Kuala Lumpur booth and a flight behind her. Loopliner's earlier piece on Di Linh covered Savage's New Year's Day closure and the Observatory's final month in Saigon.
