Thee Marloes come from Surabaya, Indonesia: Natassya Sianturi on vocals and keys, Sinatrya "Raka" Dharaka on guitar, Tommy Satwick on drums. Natassya learned to sing in a church choir, and early influences from American hip-hop and alternative rock drove Raka to start writing his own songs. On December 11, the band plays the first night of Flavours, a new live series opening at RASA Space in Singapore, running from 7:30 PM to 3 AM.

Flavours is run by the Cream Team, the collective also behind Ice Cream Sundays and Sunda Festival. Ice Cream Sundays recently marked its 10th anniversary. The series is billed to run a mix of bands, live ensembles, electronic musicians and other independent acts, a wider remit than a single-genre night. Putting a soul band and a house DJ on the same opening bill is a statement in itself: Cream Team is betting the room can hold both without either one feeling like an opening act for the other.
Thee Marloes blend soul, jazz and pop with what the band calls an Indonesian vibe, a sound built in their own home studio. It caught the attention of Big Crown Records, which released the band's debut album, Perak, in August 2024. The record led to a Japan tour, shows across the United States and a KEXP session in Seattle, and was followed this year by a second album, Di Hotel Malibu. The B-side of the band's debut 45, "Beri Cinta Waktu," is a soul ballad sung in Indonesian over a stripped-back track of hand drums, electric piano and guitar.

The opening night runs in two sessions. From 7:30 to 10 PM, Thee Marloes headline the band set over Singapore's own Clementi Soul Unit, a nine-piece soul outfit built around a horn section. Badkiss then takes the DJ booth until 3 AM alongside fellow Singapore selector Xinyi, who plays soulful house. Flavours is the first test of whether that pairing works, and whether RASA Space can hold a room built around a live band too. For Cream Team, it's also a sign the outfit is no longer just the group behind one long-running Sunday party: between Ice Cream Sundays, Sunda Festival and now Flavours, the same team is running three different rooms with three different audiences, and betting all three still add up to the same crowd. Early bird tickets are on sale now.
