Idris Elba's House Music Alias IDRIS Made Its Bangkok Debut at Cloud 11
Idris Elba's house music alias IDRIS played a one-off set at Bangkok's Cloud 11 Theatre on September 26, sharing the booth with two of the city's own DJs, Wildealer and Elaheh, as his label Sound International made its Thailand debut.
Idris Elba spent Saturday night behind a DJ mixer instead of in front of a camera. At Cloud 11 Theatre in Bangkok, the actor's house music alias IDRIS played a one-off set that put two Bangkok DJs on the same bill as a global name, not as an afterthought but as co-headliners.

Doors opened at 7:45pm for Sound International, the house night that Asia-based agency Collective Minds runs under a "never-ending house" banner, global sounds and local scenes sharing one floor rather than a headliner and two warm-up slots. The room sold through Megatix at B2,690 a ticket, billed as a one-night-only show.
Who IDRIS Actually Is
Elba isn't a celebrity who picked up a controller for a lockdown livestream. His uncle ran a sound system out of London in the 1980s, and that's where he learned to DJ, years before Luther or Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. He held a residency at the club night Twice As Nice while he was still landing acting roles, and his set list since has taken him through Ibiza's Pacha, Pikes and Hï, plus slots at Glastonbury and Coachella. Sound International, the label and platform he launched in 2024, is named directly after that uncle's sound system. Its stated goal is blunt: sign house music from every country it can reach. The label has already thrown a launch party in Nairobi and a Mixmag-co-hosted show at Amsterdam Dance Event, both in 2025. Bangkok follows those, not a one-off detour.
The Two Names Sharing His Booth
Wildealer started in 2015 as two teenagers from Chonburi, the beach city Thais half-jokingly call the Miami of Thailand, and the project has spent a decade building sets around whatever story a venue or a night is telling rather than a fixed genre lane. Elaheh is Bangkok-born with Persian roots, moving between minimal, dub, acid, techno and breaks with the kind of range that makes her equally useful on a warm-up or an after-hours slot. She's part of the UNST collective alongside DJs DOTT and Junesis, and is a resident of Soundistan, the crate-digging, vinyl-first night that's become one of the more serious rooms in the city. Both of them are regularly named among the DJs actually pushing Bangkok's house scene forward, and on September 26 that got tested in public, on a booth with an artist whose day job fills cinemas.
What It Says About the Room
A touring A-lister booking two unsigned locals instead of importing a second international name is still the exception in Southeast Asian club programming, where the safer move is almost always another flyer name from abroad. Cloud 11 and Collective Minds didn't have to build the night that way. They did anyway, and the ticket page never listed Wildealer or Elaheh as support, just as names on the same line as IDRIS. Whether that becomes a habit for Sound International's future Asia dates or stays a one-off, Bangkok's house scene got a receipt it can point to the next time someone asks if the city's underground is for real.
