VAC Music Festival 2026 Hengqin: China’s House Music Destination Return

The festival's core concept is "NEO ZEN," creating three themed stages: Lotus, Qin, and Bath, blending diverse musical styles into one immersive experience. Last year, VAC was included for the first time in DJ Mag's world's top 100 music festivals list, setting a new record for the international ranking of a Chinese homegrown electronic music festival.

For house music fans, the highlights are undeniable: John Summit, the current face of tech house; Kygo delivering a rare live set with a full band; Gorgon City, SIDEPIECE, Sultan + Shepard, and Le Youth representing the full spectrum of deep, melodic, and vocal-led house.

The Festival

VAC has run since 2018 and has become a well-known event in China's electronic music scene, touring cities such as Wuhan, Haikou, Hefei, and Hengqin. In 2025, the festival achieved a milestone: ranking 94th in DJ Mag’s world top 100 music festivals, making it the only Chinese festival to make the list.

This year’s edition is positioned as a statement of cultural fusion. The theme “Neo Zen” (新·禅) reimagines electronic music through an Eastern lens, with three stages named Lotus, Flow, and Qin, each drawing inspiration from local Hengqin imagery and designed to guide attendees through a “progressive journey from visual stillness to full release to immersive listening”.

The Lineup

Headliners are Kygo and John Summit, with Charlotte De Witte and Porter Robinson providing support.

While VAC spans multiple electronic genres, its house music programming is exceptional for an Asian festival of this scale.

The hierarchy is interesting:

Kygo: Norwegian tropical house producer. Global mainstream recognition. Crossover appeal.

John Summit: American House music producer. Clubs, stadiums, serious credibility. His CTRL ESCAPE album dropped April 15 (just before the festival).

Charlotte De Witte: Belgian techno queen. One of world's most respected electronic artists. No compromises. Pure credibility.

Porter Robinson: American electronic producer with live DJ set. Known for emotional, melodic approach.

Beyond headliners, the lineup includes Gorgon City, Gryffin, Shander, AC Slater, Andromedik, ARMNHMR, Netsky, Markus Schulz, Ray Volpe, SIDEPIECE, Knock2, ISOxo, Le Youth, Sultan + Shepard, and 22Bullets. This depth shows commitment to House music specifically. Multiple House-focused artists alongside techno, progressive, and emerging names.

The Stages

Lotus Stage (莲) - The Main Stage

Shaped like a lotus flower, this is the festival’s heart. The design incorporates Macau’s cultural motifs, symbolizing the connection between Hengqin and the neighboring special administrative region . This stage hosts the biggest headliners, including John Summit and Kygo, with synchronized lighting and nightly fireworks displays.

Flow Stage (沐) - The Release

Named after the Tianmu River, the Flow Stage is designed for full-body immersion. A wraparound setup delivers bass-heavy, driving sounds meant to wash over the crowd. This is where tech house and peak-time energy will dominate.

Qin Stage (琴) - The Immersion

Named after Hengqin itself (the character “qin” means zither), this stage prioritizes deep listening. Expect melodic house, progressive, and more atmospheric sounds here—a space for reflection within the festival frenzy.

Nightly Fireworks

Each evening will feature large-scale fireworks displays synchronized to the music, creating what organizers call “an immersive nighttime spectacle where sound and light merge”.

The festival featured drone shows and fireworks in previous editions. This continues the integration of visual technology with electronic music. This reflects China's technological sophistication. Chinese festivals use drone technology, projection mapping, and AI visuals more extensively than most Western festivals.

Getting There

By Air: Zhuhai Jinwan Airport (ZUH), approximately 1 hour from the venue. Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Macau International Airport (MFM) are also accessible via ferry or bridge connections.

From Hong Kong: Cross-border buses (China-Hong Kong Bus, Yongdong Bus) run directly to Hengqin Chimelong.

From Macau: Via the Lotus Bridge crossing into Hengqin; taxis and buses available.

By Train: Zhuhai Railway Station connects to Guangzhou and other major cities; transfer to local transport.

By Car: Parking is available at the venue but limited.

House music DJs in 2026 can make substantial revenue touring Asia, China specifically offers massive venue capacities, high ticket prices, festival growth trajectory.
