Adam Beyer Is Coming Back to Bangkok's Biggest EDM Festival, This Time With Chris Avantgarde
Techno's most influential label boss is going back to Thailand's biggest commercial EDM weekender, this time paired with the producer behind Anyma's arena hit 'Consciousness'.

A Familiar Face, a New Pairing
Adam Beyer already knows the room. In December 2024 he played a Drumcode stage takeover at 808 Festival in Bangkok, an hour that Drumcode later put out as a free radio episode two days after Christmas. This October he's back, and this time he's not surrounded by his own label roster. He's B2B with Chris Avantgarde, the producer who co-wrote Anyma's arena-filling 'Consciousness', on a bill topped by American melodic bass headliner ILLENIUM.
808 Festival unveiled its Phase 1 lineup on August 18: Illenium headlines, with Adam Beyer B2B Chris Avantgarde, a Slander B2B Nghtmre reunion, W&W, Argy, Ben Nicky, Ian Asher, Mary Droppinz and Rivo rounding out the first wave. The festival, which has run at BITEC Bangna since 2013, moves to a tighter two-day format this year, October 2 and 3, down from the three-night editions of the last two years. General admission Tier 2 tickets are 3,350 baht, with two-day passes and VVIP packages already live.
Why a Techno Booking Is the Interesting Part
808 Festival built its name on big room, melodic dubstep and trance, the kind of bill where Illenium and a Slander/Nghtmre reunion make obvious sense. Techno in Bangkok has mostly stayed where it started, in rooms like the ones we've written about before, not on a stage built for a festival-pop crowd. Beyer coming back for a second year, this time in a headline-billed B2B rather than a niche stage slot, plus a second booking in Argy, a producer whose melodic techno sits closer to festival-friendly territory than Drumcode's peak-time catalogue, reads like a bet that techno now sells tickets outside the people who already know the genre. It's not a wild one. Drumcode has been filling arenas and closing Ultra mainstages for years; Beyer's audience was never as niche as the word techno implies in a room full of trance kids.

Phase 1 is the opener, not the full bill: 808 Festival says more names are coming in a later phase, and past editions have kept adding acts into the autumn. BITEC Bangna sits on the Bangna side of the city, well served by the BTS Sukhumvit line's Bang Na and Udom Suk stations if you'd rather skip the taxi queue home. Anyone weighing this against Thailand's other big December dates, EDC Thailand at Laguna Phuket among them, should note 808 has moved off the December slot entirely this year, landing in October instead.
