A Historic First for ASOT Vietnam
A State of Trance Vietnam 2026 takes place on June 13 at Van Phuc City in Ho Chi Minh City. The brand's first full festival stop in Vietnam and its sole Southeast Asian date during the ASOT 25 Years global anniversary tour. The event is presented by Ravolution Asia, LIVESCAPE, and Collective Minds, three of the most influential forces shaping Asia's live music ecosystem. More than 10,000 attendees from over 50 countries have already confirmed ahead of the event, with several ticket tiers already sold out.
Headlining the night is a face-to-face performance between Armin van Buuren and KI/KI. The first time the two artists have shared a stage together anywhere in the world. It is the announcement that defines the edition: a meeting between the genre's 25-year institution and one of electronic music's most rapidly ascending names, taking place in a country that has never hosted an ASOT festival before.

THE F2F: Armin van Buuren x KI/KI
The face-to-face (F2F) format is a relatively recent addition to Armin van Buuren’s performance repertoire. In this setup, the DJs’ decks are positioned directly opposite one another, creating a more interactive, competitive, and collaborative dynamic than traditional back-to-back sets. At ASOT Rotterdam last year, van Buuren adopted the format alongside techno star Maddix to tremendous. The Vietnam edition promises to take that energy even further with KI/KI, whose rising profile in the techno and hard dance scenes makes her an unexpected but electrifying partner for the trance legend.

The two artists connected on record before the stage: in 2025, Armin van Buuren and KI/KI co-produced the official Amsterdam Music Festival 2025 anthem. ASOT Vietnam is where that studio chemistry translates to a live performance for the first time in front of an audience that has never seen this pairing before.
KI/KI's trajectory over the last 18 months makes the pairing as meaningful as it is surprising. The Amsterdam-based producer emerged from the queer underground and has moved rapidly and on her own terms to command main stages that few artists reach without a decade of groundwork. Her sound traverses acid techno, trance, and everything in between: a bridge between the genres that ASOT was built on and the rawer club impulses that define contemporary electronic music. The slash in her name, she has said, is a mission statement, a meeting point between nostalgia and the new. Sharing a stage with ASOT's founder is the logical next chapter of that arc.
"A State of Trance has connected people through music for 25 years. Now, for the first time, we're bringing that experience to Vietnam, and I'm beyond excited to welcome Vietnamese fans into the ASOT family in this milestone year." — Armin van Buuren

ASOT 25
A State of Trance launched as a weekly radio show in 2001. Twenty-five years later, its broadcast reaches 44 million listeners across more than 80 countries, and its festival arm has evolved into one of the most recognisable event brands in electronic music. The 2026 anniversary tour spans Rotterdam, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Poland with Vietnam carrying particular significance as the brand's first full Southeast Asian festival stop.
The Bus Set - Armin teases Vietnam
Before the full lineup was announced, Armin van Buuren personally travelled to Ho Chi Minh City to build anticipation for ASOT's arrival. His visit included a surprise DJ set staged on the upper deck of a moving bus, turning the streets of the city including the iconic Saigon Bridge into a preview of what was coming in June. The event graphics covered the vehicle; the city provided the stage.
For Vietnam's electronic music community, the occasion carries weight beyond the lineup. Ravolution Asia's founder Tris Truong framed the arrival as a reflection of timing and readiness: "Vietnam's electronic music community has grown tremendously over the years, and bringing A State of Trance here reflects both the passion of local fans and the country's readiness to host world-class music experiences." ASOT Vietnam 2026 is not the first international EDM event to land in Ho Chi Minh City, but it is the first to arrive under the explicit banner of a brand built over 25 years and with a headline act pairing that is a genuine world first.
The Armin van Buuren and KI/KI pairing is not an obvious one. On paper, trance’s emotional builds and melodic climaxes sit at a different temperature than KI/KI’s driving, rave-infused intensity. But that tension is precisely what makes this F2F set compelling. The best electronic music moments happen when artists push each other outside their comfort zones. Van Buuren has been playing it safe for years, polished festival sets, predictable tracklists, reliable energy. KI/KI represents the opposite: chaos, spontaneity, a willingness to take risks. If this set works, it could be the most interesting thing van Buuren has done in a decade. If it doesn’t? At least it won’t be boring.
