A Venue That Bans Phones, Booking the Opposite of Quiet
宀 Club, also written Mihn, enforces a no-photo policy inside. The room holds about 100 people, runs a Funktion-One sound system in a space tuned by a Hong Kong acoustics specialist, and is still the most-followed Hong Kong venue on Resident Advisor, with more than 1,000 followers. None of that has made it cautious about booking. On October 23, the club's Entropy 熵 night puts Ottoman Grüw, the Brussels-based producer behind the label Mutant Modality, on the bill alongside DANLEE and Nanogram.
Who Ottoman Grüw Is
Ottoman Grüw has been DJing, producing and performing live since 2017. The project blends EBM, industrial, ambient and post-punk influences inside techno frameworks, built on relentless bassline arpeggios, drones and derelict vocal elements. It has played Tresor in Berlin, Khidi in Tbilisi and Bossa Nova Civic Club in New York, after starting out in Montreal's underground and working through clubs and festivals across Europe, North America and Latin America. Ottoman Grüw also runs Mutant Modality with NVDP, the label whose catalog carries his own remix work: one pass at Munsinger's "The Year Is One", another at Eve Schwarz's "Coping Mechanism".

Where Entropy Fits In
宀 Club's programme mixes international guests with Asia-Pacific and local artists, and the club states it is a safe space welcoming every race, gender and sexual identity. That is the same room, on the 4th floor at 279 Des Voeux Road Central in Sheung Wan, hosting Ottoman Grüw, DANLEE and Nanogram on October 23. The no-photo policy applies the moment you're through the door.
If You Go
Entropy 熵 with Ottoman Grüw runs October 23 at 宀 Club, 4th floor, 279 Des Voeux Road Central, Sheung Wan. Lineup is Ottoman Grüw, DANLEE and Nanogram. See also our earlier guide to Hong Kong's house and techno clubs.
