Ministry of Sound Returns to Ibiza for the First Time
Ministry of Sound just announced they are going back to Ibiza for the first time in ten years. September 3 at 528 Ibiza. Louie Vega in the garden. This one is special.
This one just dropped yesterday and it is worth stopping everything for. Ministry of Sound is returning to Ibiza for the first time in a decade this September with a one-off event at 528 Ibiza, marking the next chapter in its global 35th anniversary celebrations. Ten years away from the island that helped shape what Ministry became. September 3 is when that changes.
For a brand that has spent 35 years being one of the most important names in house music globally, returning to Ibiza is not just a booking. It is a statement. And the venue they chose to make that statement in tells you a lot about where Ministry of Sound's head is at in 2026.
Why 528 Ibiza is the right room for this
Ministry of Sound did not go back to Ibiza and book the biggest room available. They went back and found the room that fit. Set in the pine-covered Benimussa Hills above San Antonio, 528 Ibiza has become known for its intimate setting, immersive production and connection to Ibiza's more natural Balearic spirit. That is a very deliberate choice for a brand that built its reputation on sound quality and atmosphere over spectacle.
528 Brand and Marketing Director Michael Fensom said they are truly excited to welcome such an iconic brand to 528 and to be part of their global 35th anniversary celebrations, calling the return to Ibiza after ten years something that is set to be one of the highlights of the whole season. When a venue says that about a booking you know the combination means something beyond just ticket sales.

What the night actually looks like
Taking place on September 3 across both the venue's open-air garden and indoor club space, the multi-room programme reflects the breadth of Ministry's sound, from house pioneers and underground selectors to contemporary club talent. The garden stage will feature legendary New Yorker Louie Vega as well as new school house star Dan Shake, Radio 1 selector Benji B, and Paisley Jensen. Inside, URGE Presents will host a deeper late-night programme from Robbie Doherty, Reelow, DiOSA, and Basso.
Louie Vega in an open-air garden in the hills above San Antonio. Dan Shake bringing the new school energy. A completely separate indoor programme from URGE Presents going deeper into the night. This is not one event. This is two events sharing the same evening and the same postcode and both of them sound exactly right.

What Ministry of Sound has been doing in 2026
For anyone who has not been following the 35th anniversary story this year, here is where things stand. Ministry of Sound underwent what it described as its most significant transformation since opening in 1991, with a completely reimagined main room featuring a brand new custom four-point KV2 sound system replacing the legendary Martin Audio setup that had long been regarded as a global benchmark. New sound system. New lights. Redesigned dancefloor and DJ booth. A full reset of the physical space before the anniversary year even got going.
The 2026 season opened with a refreshed creative direction and a high-impact calendar blending electronic icons with new generation talent, featuring Ron Trent, Joe Claussell, Tony Humphries, Pete Tong, Kölsch, Eats Everything, Zed Bias, Lauren Lo Sung, and Darius Syrossian among the first wave of artists announced. That is a roster that covers house music from its deepest roots to where it sits right now. The 35th anniversary is not a nostalgia exercise. It is a full recommitment to what made Ministry matter in the first place.
As club director Matt Long put it: everyone at Ministry of Sound is incredibly proud of what they have built over the last 35 years. But they are also thinking ahead about what the club could become over the next 30 years. 2026 marks the start of that chapter.
The Ibiza return on September 3 is that thinking made real. A legendary brand, a perfectly chosen room, a lineup that balances legacy and freshness, and ten years of absence making the whole thing feel like it actually means something.
