Temple of Dance
RASA, The Deep End by Progressions and SLICK are naming Patrice Bäumel in the title of its Halloween event, "Temple of Dance with Patrice Bäumel," on Friday, October 30, 2026. Doors open at 5PM for dinner and drinks; the floor itself runs 11PM to 3AM. The bill splits across RASA's two rooms: Josh M and Yukun support Bäumel on the main floor, while the Day Ones crew of 54B, AAAZR and SYEDSAVAGE69 plays global club, ghetto tech and Latin techno in the Hall. Standard tickets are SGD42, SGD50 at the door.

A Trouw Lifer, Straight Edge Now
Bäumel was born in East Germany under Communist rule; his adoptive father was a music journalist who fed him Depeche Mode, Yello, The Cure and Skinny Puppy records from the West. He started DJing at 17, on gabba and hardcore, before working his way into European and Detroit techno. A couple of releases on Cologne's Trapez imprint got him noticed, but it was a residency at Amsterdam's Trouw, starting at the beginning of the 2010s, that made him a serious player: sets there regularly ran past the seven-hour mark. When Trouw closed, he cut out intoxicants and rebuilt his process around creating club tracks built for maximum pleasure, rather than chasing approval.
That approach already had a hit behind it. His 2008 track "Roar," released on Get Physical, became an Ibiza and worldwide club staple, backed by DJs as different as Pete Tong and Danny Tenaglia. He's also released on Kompakt and Watergate, and mixed a volume of Global Underground. He cites Autechre and Andy Stott among his key influences, and these days he plays straight edge.

RASA's Berghain Pedigree
RASA opened in January 2025, a 6,114-square-foot, two-room space: Floor runs house and electronic music, Hall runs UK garage, downtempo, reggae and funk. The interior is by Studio Karhard, the Berlin firm behind Berghain; the custom TPI sound system is the work of AV consultant Sean Iskhandar, and the lighting comes from Convert Textured, a company based in Bandung. Founder Kavan Spruyt has called the venue "a love letter to our Southeast Asian roots". RASA has already pulled off a left-field international booking: it billed Moodymann to headline a RASA-curated show on August 22.
RASA's Temple of Dance: doors at 5PM, floor at 11PM, SGD42 in advance, at 9 Raffles Place, Tower #1, Republic Plaza.
