Snug's Queer Night Takes Over The Observatory for One of Its Last Saturdays Before Ho Chi Minh City's Techno Landmark Closes

The Observatory, Ho Chi Minh City's 13-year house and techno club, closes at the end of October. On the 10th, it hands the night to Snug, a queer party with a drag set from Peach and a local-only lineup.

Dates: Saturday, October 10, 2026, 9 PM to 6 AM Venue: The Observatory, 85 Cách Mạng Tháng Tám, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City Tickets: 150,000 VND online, 250,000 VND at the door

Roller skates, a drag show and a logo that just says "Snug" in looping red type, on the flyer for one of the last good nights left at The Observatory, the club that has run Ho Chi Minh City's house and techno scene for nearly 13 years and is closing for good at the end of October. On October 10, the venue hands its decks over to Snug, a queer party that describes itself, in its own words, as a "New cosy and welcoming night for the fabulous, dancers, kissers, huggers, homos, queers, posers, bitches, flexible, curious, tops, bottoms & in betweens."

A Closing Month Built on Guest Lists, Not One Big Blowout

When The Observatory confirmed its closure in September, the statement to the press blamed rising rent and tightening rules on booking international DJs, not a falling-out with its crowd. What it's doing with its final weeks says the same thing a different way: rather than save the goodbye for one last headline night, the club is spending its remaining Saturdays handing the room to the promoters and crews who built its reputation over the years. Snug, on October 10, is one of them.

The lineup is David Elimelech, Ouissam, Your Nikola, Park:ING, Baobei and Verr, with a drag performance from Peach worked in between sets. None of these are the international guest names The Observatory built its early reputation on. This time around, it's a local bill, booked by a local crew, for a room with a closing date already on it.

If You're Going

Doors open at 9 PM and the club keeps running until 6 AM, which is standard for a Saturday here but worth knowing if you're not used to Ho Chi Minh City hours. Online tickets at 150,000 VND are cheaper than the 250,000 VND door price, so buying ahead through Snug's own channels is the better move if you already know you're going. The Observatory sits on the 10th floor at 85 Cách Mạng Tháng Tám in District 1, a short walk from Bến Thành Market.

Southeast Asia's clubs have been closing for a mix of reasons this year, and The Observatory's is a landlord and visa-rules problem, not a lack of a crowd. With the venue's doors shutting at the end of October, there are only a handful of Saturdays left to catch a night there.
