The Best House and Techno Clubs in Manila, 2026 Edition
Manila's house and techno scene runs through five small rooms in Poblacion and Makati Cinema Square, from Apotheka's split-level policy to The Void's no-frills basement. Here's where to go, what it costs, and how to get home after.
The Void doesn't have a sign. Walk down Doña Carmen Street in Poblacion on a Wednesday night and you'll find a black door under a Makati Sports Bar awning, a flight of stairs, and a room with one job: house and techno, no cover before 9pm, nothing to look at except the DJ booth. That's Manila's club scene in miniature. No megaclub, no strip of neon like Bangkok's Royal City Avenue. Just a handful of small rooms, mostly underground in the literal sense, scattered across two neighborhoods that don't advertise themselves.
The commercial superclubs that used to define Manila nightlife, big EDM barns with bottle-service floors and headline DJ residencies, have mostly thinned out. What's replaced them is smaller and more specific: rooms built around a genre first and a vibe second. UNKNWN just turned ten throwing parties in whatever room would have them, and Manila producer Alinep landed a release on a Berlin techno label this year. The rooms below are where that scene actually plays out on a Saturday night.
Apotheka
Ground floor, White Rabbit Building, 5672 Doña Carmen St. corner General Luna, Poblacion, Makati. Wednesday to Saturday, 9pm to 4am. Cocktails from ₱400, beer ₱240, no stated cover.
Apotheka is the venue with the most personality on this list, and it runs two different clubs under one roof. The main floor leans baile funk, global club and house, programmed through collectives like Orange Juice Asia and Ritmo. Head up to the mezzanine and the sound drops into Detroit techno, jungle and '90s electro, courtesy of crews like Amenta World and Dancefloor Therapy. It opened in March 2023 and built its name by refusing to lock into one lane: Thursdays skew toward the underground night Unearth, while queer parties like Elephant, Church and Mighty Real rotate through on other nights. Come on the wrong night expecting techno and you might get hip-hop instead. That's the point.
NoKal
Basement 1, Makati Cinema Square, 2130 Chino Roces Avenue, Makati. Wednesday to Saturday, 9pm to 5am. Tables from ₱5,000, walk-ins free.
NoKal (short for "North of Kalayaan") used to run three floors in Poblacion before closing for good in 2020, a pandemic casualty like so many Manila venues that never reopened. It came back on October 26, 2022, in a single basement level under Makati Cinema Square, a fluorescent-lit mall better known for pirated DVDs than nightlife, which is exactly the kind of detail that makes Manila's scene feel unpretentious rather than staged. The room leans into a Studio 54-adjacent look, dark walls, neon signage, a d&b Audiotechnik rig doing the heavy lifting, and its Basement Grooves night threads disco through house and techno without picking a side. Resident nights include Roll the Dice, Moving Parts, Nomoclassiq and Face 2 Face, the last built entirely around back-to-back sets.
The Void
8456 Doña Carmen St. corner Kalayaan Ave, Poblacion, Makati. Wednesday and Thursday, 9pm to 5am, no cover. Friday and Saturday, 11pm to 7am, ₱300 once it fills up.
Owner Gabby Zulueta, who DJs under Gabby Z, opened The Void in June 2019 with a specific complaint in mind: "There's a void in the scene that needed to be filled." He built a basement under Makati Sports Bar with bare gray walls, footprint cutouts and not much else, a deliberate refusal of the Instagram-bait design that's taken over most of Poblacion. The policy is house and techno, full stop, with local and international DJs, and the room doesn't dress it up. If NoKal is the scene's disco-lit cousin, The Void is the room that shows up in a black t-shirt and doesn't apologize for it.
Black Market
Warehouse 5, La Fuerza Plaza, 2241 Don Chino Roces Avenue corner Sabio, Makati.
A genuine two-story warehouse, not a warehouse-themed build-out, Black Market has spent years threading funk, techno and Afrobeats through a room that pointedly avoids Top 40. Saturdays belong to Black Out, the night given over fully to techno, electro, dub and UK funky, which is the one to circle if house and techno are specifically what you're after; the rest of the week's programming is looser and genre-crosses more freely.
TOPIC
5353 General Luna corner Mariano, Poblacion, Makati. Thursday to Saturday.
TOPIC opened in early 2019 as Manila's first two-story rooftop bar built around house and techno, and the open-air setting is what separates it from everything else on this list, every other room here is a basement or a ground-floor box with low ceilings. It's a smaller, more local-facing booking policy than Apotheka or NoKal, mixing homegrown selectors with the occasional touring DJ, and it's the pick if you want a night out that doesn't feel like descending into a bunker by 11pm.
Skip These, Unless You Want Bottle Service
House Manila, with its 300-person private seating setup, and Revel at The Palace, which has been running big-room nights since 1995, are both still functioning, popular clubs. They're just not playing the same game as the five rooms above. Go if you're celebrating a birthday with a table and don't care what's on the speakers. Skip them if house and techno specifically is why you're going out.
If You're Going
Three of these, Apotheka, The Void and TOPIC, sit within a few blocks of each other around Doña Carmen and General Luna in Poblacion, close enough to walk between on a bar crawl. NoKal and Black Market are separate trips: Makati Cinema Square and La Fuerza Plaza are both a Grab ride away, not a walk, especially past midnight. Budget for that ride home too. Poblacion's side streets empty out fast once the bars close and aren't the place to be standing around waiting for a ride.
Nothing on this list gets going before 11pm regardless of the posted opening time, and most rooms run until sunrise on weekends. Cash still moves faster than cards at the door in Poblacion, so bring some. That's not a knock. It's the reason The Void doesn't need a sign.
