Five headliners are playing Malaysia for the first time in their careers, and they're all doing it at the same festival, on the same mountain, nine days apart from when tickets went on sale.

Two Chapters, One Mountain

Sunset by NEON is back at Genting Highlands for the second time this year, and this edition is doing something the June one didn't: putting five international acts on Malaysian soil for the first time ever. Enrico Sangiuliano and MORTEN headline the opening night on September 26th. The following day flips into "Time Machine," a takeover set built around Agents of Time, Yotto, Rivo, SLVR and NOSI. According to the festival's own announcement, posted to its site on September 9th, Sangiuliano, MORTEN, Yotto, Agents of Time and SLVR are all playing their first-ever Malaysian shows.

That's a lot of debuts to stack on one weekend, and it says something about where Genting sits on the regional circuit now. Back in June, Sunset by NEON hosted the Asian debut of ARTBAT's UPPERGROUND concept at Resorts World Awana, a few kilometres up the same hill. Chapter Two moves to a new site, the Premium Outlet Bus Park, and trades UPPERGROUND's single-headliner theatrics for a broader, harder-touring bill: five Malaysia firsts instead of one regional first.

Who's Actually Playing

Sangiuliano needs no introduction to anyone who's spent time near a Drumcode lineup; his sets run on tension and release rather than peak-time drops, which is presumably why he's paired with MORTEN on opening night. MORTEN is the Danish producer who co-built the "Future Rave" sound with David Guetta, a genre that splits the difference between festival-main-stage house and rolling techno bass. Day two's Time Machine block leans further into melodic and progressive territory: Agents of Time's live hardware sets, Yotto's Anjunadeep-adjacent melancholy, SLVR's tech-house. Local support comes from Victor G, CXW, Boriz b2b Wesufo, MTR and Dora, the same rotation of Malaysian selectors who've been opening for touring headliners at Sara Landry's Kuala Lumpur date and 999999999's BLAK Arena show earlier this year.

The Numbers Behind the Sell-Through

Doors run 4pm to 3am on both days, which is a long window for a mountain-resort festival and suggests the production is built to hold a crowd through a full temperature swing; Genting Highlands sits roughly 1,800 metres up and gets genuinely cold after dark. As of September 11th, organisers told The Sun Malaysia that 60% of general admission two-day passes and 70% of VIP two-day passes were already gone, three weeks out. That tracks with last year's numbers: NEON Projects, the promoter behind the brand, drew 18,000 fans across two days for its September 2025 edition, a bill that ran Adam Beyer, Massano and KREAM. This isn't a first-year festival hoping a big name saves it. It's a two-time-a-year fixture that's now confident enough to headline with five unknowns-to-Malaysia in one go.

If You Go

Genting Highlands sits about an hour north of Kuala Lumpur by road, reachable by the Genting Skyway cable car or a direct bus from KL Sentral; check Sunset by NEON's own site for shuttle details closer to the date, since the new venue means last year's transport arrangements don't automatically carry over. Bring a jacket. Whatever you paid for GA, you'll want it once the sun actually sets.
