Six pm, and Bar Marco's amber-lit vinyl shelves are still catching the last of the daylight through the shophouse windows on Thonglor Soi 20. Nobody's dancing. By the time the sun comes back up, nine hours later on the far side of the city, at a club called Elsewhere on the ninth floor of Silom's Trinity Complex, people still will be.

That's the shape of a full night out in Bangkok if you do it right: a slow start, a real peak, and a long, deliberate tail that has almost nothing to do with the venue where you started. Bangkok's entertainment licensing is a patchwork of curfews, and the single biggest planning mistake visitors make is assuming one club can carry the whole night. It can't. Here's a route that works, built around real opening hours rather than guesswork.

6 PM: Start Slow, on Thonglor Soi 20

Bar Marco is a converted two-story shophouse run by the Rabbit Hole group, open daily from 6pm to 1am. The ground floor is a shrine to mid-century modernism (Noguchi-style tables, a candy-apple red Smeg fridge) built around a shelf of vinyl that climbs the stairwell: the Beach Boys, the Velvet Underground, Phoenix, Thelonious Monk, LCD Soundsystem. Upstairs there's a second, smaller bar that looks down on the DJ booth. Nobody's expecting you to dance yet. That's the point: you're here for a drink and a soundtrack while the rest of the city is still eating dinner.

9 PM: The Last Quiet Hour

Eat something. Nothing on this route serves real food after midnight, and Bangkok's clubs are unforgiving on an empty stomach. This is also the hour to sort out cash: smaller venues later in the night aren't all set up for cards, and an ATM run at 3am is a worse use of your time than one at 9pm.

11 PM: Sing Sing Theater Opens Its Doors

On Sukhumvit Soi 45, Sing Sing Theater runs Tuesday through Saturday, 9pm to 3am, closed Sunday and Monday, according to its own site. It's a neo-chinoiserie fever dream designed by Ashley Sutton, the same production designer behind Bangkok's Iron Fairies bars: red lacquer, hanging lanterns, a staircase built for an entrance. Doors technically open at 9, but 11pm to midnight is when the room actually fills and the dance floor stops being decorative. It reads more theatrical than most house and techno rooms in the region, which is exactly the appeal: this is the one stop on the route that looks like nowhere else in the city.

Midnight: Why This Route Needs a Second Venue

Here's the part most first-timers get wrong. A standard Article 3 entertainment license in Bangkok closes at 2am by default, and that includes plenty of clubs that feel like they should run later. Only a handful of designated zones are licensed until 4am: Khao San Road, the RCA strip and, as of this year, Thonglor, which was promoted from a 2am to a 4am zone. Being physically located inside one of those zones doesn't automatically mean the bar you're standing in holds the 4am permit, as we broke down when Bangkok's closing times changed. Sing Sing's 3am close and Decho Road's 3:30am don't sit inside any of those three named zones either, and neither venue explains the extra hour beyond posting it. 2:30 AM: Crossing Town to Decho Road

This leg only works Friday or Saturday. Sing Sing runs Tuesday to Saturday, but Mustache and the harder techno room inside the same Decho Road building, Subwerk, keep Friday and Saturday hours only, open from around 10pm until roughly 3:30am. It's a short Skytrain hop or one metered taxi from Sukhumvit into Silom, so time your exit from Sing Sing to land on Decho Road with 45 minutes to an hour still on the clock, not after last call.

3:30 AM: Elsewhere Picks Up What Decho Road Puts Down

Mustache and Subwerk cut the lights at 3:30. Elsewhere, on the ninth floor of the Trinity Complex off Silom Soi 5, runs Friday and Saturday from 11pm to 4am and is where the last of the room actually ends up, as we found reporting on where Southeast Asia's afterparties happen. It was opened in late 2024 by three brothers with backgrounds split between Tokyo, New York and Paris, built around a Danley Sound Labs and JBL rig in a deliberately unmarked space. A recent Friday lineup listed a 400 baht cover. Peak energy here doesn't really arrive until 2 or 3am, and by the site's own account the floor is still going after most of the city has gone quiet.

5 AM: Getting Home

The BTS doesn't restart until 5am, so everything before that is Grab, a metered street taxi, or a short motorbike taxi hop if you're sober enough to trust one. Open the Grab app before you leave the venue, not after: matching slows down and fares climb once the 2am rush hits. Insist a street taxi runs the meter before you get in.
