Pulse of Gaia has confirmed its 2026 Italy editions, scheduled for July 4–5 and July 17–18. The controversial Hellwatt Festival has been officially rebranded and reimagined as Pulse of Gaia Festival, a multi-genre international event produced by the globally renowned Zamna group.

Event Overview

This festival was originally called Hellwatt Festival. That project fell apart due to disputes over ticket prices, artist bookings, and who owned the name. The venue (RCF Arena) brought in Zamna Group, a Mexican company known for festivals in Tulum, to take over and rebrand. The result is Pulse of Gaia.

The name: "Gaia" means the Earth as a living thing. "Pulse" means the collective energy of music and people. The festival says it cares about sustainability and lower energy impact, a reaction to the original plan's reportedly excessive stage designs (a multi-ton ship and a train).

Location: RCF Arena (Campovolo), Reggio Emilia, Italy

Date: July 4-5, 11, 17-18, 2026

Genre: Multi-genre (EDM, house, pop, reggaeton, hip-hop)

Venue

RCF Arena is one of Italy’s largest outdoor live-event venues and has previously hosted large-scale concerts and electronic music events. The venue is designed for high-capacity outdoor productions with large LED staging and pyrotechnic capabilities.

Getting to Reggio Emilia

By Air

Reggio Emilia does not have its own major commercial airport. Travelers typically fly into nearby hubs and take a train or shuttle.

Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport: Closest major airport (approx. 60km away). Take the Marconi Express monorail to Bologna Centrale (7 mins), then a direct train to Reggio Emilia (approx. 40 mins)

Milano Malpensa Airport: Major international hubs. Trains from Milan Centrale reach Reggio Emilia in about 45–60 minutes.

Parma Airport: The closest regional airport (30km away), though it has fewer international flights.

By Train

The city is famous for its Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana station. High-speed Trains served by Trenitalia (Frecciarossa) and Italo, connecting to Milan (45 min), Bologna (20 min) and Rome (2.5 hrs). The AV station is 4km from the city center. Use the Minibù M or local suburban trains to reach the central station (Stazione Centrale).

By Car: A1 Highway, exit Reggio Emilia; ample parking available (paid)

Accommodation

Hotels ranges from historic boutiques in the center to relaxed farmstays on the outskirts.

City Center: Hotel Posta, Albergo Reggio, Student's Hostel della Ghiara.

Outskirts & Relaxed Stay: Agriturismo la Razza, Best Western Classic Hotel, Mercure Reggio Emilia Centro Astoria.

The festival’s rebranding from Hellwatt to Pulse of Gaia represents more than a name change. It signals a shift toward sustainability, professional production, and international-standard curation all backed by Zamna’s global expertise. For house heads who remember the chaotic early announcements of Hellwatt, this relaunch offers genuine reason for optimism.

That said, caution is warranted. Two dates remain unconfirmed. The legal disputes with the former artistic director could still create complications. And with only weeks until July, the lack of a full stage-by-stage schedule for the pending dates is unusual for an event of this scale.

If everything proceeds as announced, however, Pulse of Gaia 2026 offers Italian house fans something rare: world-class electronic talent in a world-class venue, without the need to travel to Ibiza or Amsterdam. And for international travelers, Reggio Emilia—home to some of Italy’s best cuisine (hello, Parmigiano and Prosciutto di Parma) offers a festival experience with cultural depth beyond the dancefloor.
